Vessel Meats is a dedicated whole animal craft butchery that focuses on showcasing the best meat
that Nova Scotia has to offer. As we enter into our 10 th year of business this year, we are inviting
food service leaders to bring their skills to the table and work beside us to continue to pave
pathways for local food in Nova Scotia. Our business started in 2014 at the Alderney Landing
Farmer’s Market and we are still grounded on a solid community foundation in Dartmouth as
well as two farm markets in Halifax. Our business values it’s strong roots in customer service and
the community we serve and we are looking for strong leaders with similar values to help is take
our business to the next level.

 

Butcher Shop Clerk:

We are looking to add a support role to our team!

This role is for a butcher shop clerk who will provide support to the kitchen and the butchery as well as help serve customers.

 

Responsibilities include;

• serving the case and helping customers

• putting away dishes

• assembling and disassembling equipment such as the smoker

• assembling product such as burger patties, snacks and kabobs

• slicing deli meat and bacon

• packaging and labeling products

 

Although direct work experience is not required we are looking for someone with at least 2 years of work experience as well as customer service experience.

The most comparable types of roles would be a deli counter service style role.

You will have to handle food.

Maintain top food handler standards.

Be positive and friendly.

Willing to learn about the products we sell.

Be comfortable working around and touching meat including pork, beef and chicken.

Understand production work; have the ability to work quickly and efficiently throughout the day.

There will be certain aspects of this role that will be the same day to day and others that will change daily.

This position requires the ability to stand and move around for 8 hours + per day. This position requires the ability to lift 50 lbs throughout the day. This position requires attention to detail. This position requires the ability to read and write English.

This position is a full time position of 35-40 hours per week.

Tues to Saturday every week.

This position is open to those who are legally entitled to work in Canada.
